FAQ'S

1. Are all therapy sessions confidential and private?

Yes, everything you share is private and confidential.

2. What is the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors who are able to prescribe medications, which they do in conjunction with providing psychotherapy, though medical and pharmacological interventions are often their focus. Where as psychologists provide help through talk therapy.

3. How do I know if I need therapy? Can therapy really be helpful?

Therapy can give you support, validation, coping skills, and strategies to change your perspective and your behaviors. It can give you greater peace of mind and help you tolerate difficult feelings and situations. It can give you a “corrective emotional experience:” your therapist creates a safe, non-judgmental space for you to express yourself authentically and may “get” you in a way that no one else has. When this happens, it is extremely powerful and transformative.

Therapy cannot change other people or external circumstances. Therapists provide psychoeducation, feedback, and guidance, but they don’t give advice or answers. If you’re new to therapy, or are exploring unprocessed trauma, therapy may make you feel a bit worse before you feel better.

I can’t tell you how long it will take for you to feel better. But, generally, the more you put into therapy, the more you’ll get out of it.

4. Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes, a sliding scale is available. Only for a limited slots per month.

5. What is the difference between a counselling psychologist and a clinical psychologist?

The difference between the two is based in tradition, with clinical psychologists historically working in more clinical settings - working with assessment, diagnosis and treatment.

Counselling psychologists work with the same diversity of issues using effective talking therapies by applying a wide range of skills to work with each individual's needs in a supportive and caring way.

6. Is there a cancellation policy?

Yes, there is a 24 hour cancellation policy.

Disclaimer:
